About the test:
- Reasoning Through Language Arts: 150 minutes in three sections (51 items)
- Mathematics: 90 minutes in two sections (46 items)
- Science: 90 minutes in 1 section (34 items)
- Social Studies: 90 minutes in two sections (35 items)
Language Arts
Social Studies Content
- 75% informational texts, 25% literature
- A range of text complexity
- Text length 450-900 words
- Vocabulary (emphasis on words that appear frequently in a wide variety of disciplines e.g., relative, vary , formulate, dignified, calibrate)
What student need to do for reading:
- draw specific comparisons between two texts
- distinguish between valid arguments and faulty reading
- distinguish between supported and unsupported claims
- make inferences made by the author
What students need to do for writing"
- draw relevant and sufficient evidence from texts
- produce a response that includes: specific evidence, effective organizational structure, appropriate vocabulary and standard English conventions (punctuation)
- 50% Civics and Government
- 20% United States History
- 15% Economics
